Would you like to become a member of our charity?

Would you like to get involved in our organisation and give a little of your time to your community? We are now taking applications for local residents to become Members of our charity. Being a member not only gives you a chance to make a difference within your community, it also gives you the opportunity to meet like minded people and contribute to an organisation that was built by The Meadows community and has been serving the community for over 20 years.

What’s involved in being a member?

Members have ultimate control over the charity, because they make decisions relating to things such as changing the charity’s constitution, appointing trustees and determining whether a charity should be wound up. Members, however, do not have responsibility for the management of the charity’s day to day activities, we simply ask them to support the charity’s aims and objectives and abide by the Articles of Association (please note their financial liability is limited to £1 should the trust be wound up with any debts).

Who can be a member?

Any resident of The Meadows or Clifton can automatically become a member. Anyone outside of these areas can apply to be a member but do not automatically qualify.

What are benefits to being a member?

Members can help support and shape what the charity does, how it does it and who it supports and have real impact within their community.

What’s required of a member?

The only thing we require from our members is the time you are willing to offer, however, we encourage all memebers to at least attend the AGM.

The definition of being a member of a charity - An individual with the ability to affect the governance of a charity by voting at the charity's annual general meeting and who meets all other criteria for a member as set out in the charity's governing document.
