The Meadows Community Youth Football
For ages 5- 14+ year olds.
When? This event is every Wednesdays 6pm until 7.30pm.
Where? During the summer months we will be on the embankment filed. During the winter months we are holding the sessions at Portland Leisure Centre 5 - 11 yr olds.
The football is ran by Volunteer Youth Football Coordinator Head Coach Jeff Meehan along with other coaches John Adams, Derek Lawson, Stephen Skermer, Brian Newbold and Steven Gough.
We also have a qualified Head First Aider Steven Gough.
Our Safe Guarding officer is Miriam Gifford.
This is a volunteer run project which started in 2021 by Jeff Meehan, Karl White and John Adams; Jeff has take on the mantle of head coach since Karl's passing back in December 2021.
what does it entail? It starts with a warm up for the children to avoid the dreaded cramps, they are then split in to groups to learn new skills with the ball - how to use both feet, ball control, passing, etc.
The time is finished off with a short game of football to give them a chance to practice the skills they have learnt. Great fun and lots of enthusiasm with the potential to be scouted for a football team.

Urban Nitz
14 - 21 year olds

This was initially set up by Elisha Deans. The evening will be for young people to relax, make new friends and learn new skills, the youth voice is important.
Once set up there will be various sessions aimed at what they, the youth want to learn about - youth violence, gender - abuse, all types including substances.
We will be looking to engage with people who have lived, their experiences, with good listening skills, mentors, counsellors will be involved to help the youth, this will be for young people and volunteer led.
Monday - Thursday 09.30 - 4pm
Friday 09.30 - 12pm
Tuesday - Closed due to job clubs in Clifton library and The Hope Centre.
